It's a mashup of two childhood favorites: the infamous feces-dyeing monster cereal with the 70's-80's sci-fi TV sensation. Shiny robot marauders need to eat a complete breakfast, too, y'know!
And yes, the "toy surprise" robot-dog, featured in the show, was in fact a chimpanzee in a full-body costume and helmet! Creepy!
